This post is for the review of my first Custom Diamond Painting I did this past fall for my mom’s Christmas Present. It’s a picture of my cat Shadow, of all my pets he’s my mom’s favorite. He came to our house when my mom lived with us when he was just 10 weeks old. He was actually born on October 31st so I thought this was a great representation of who he is and he lives up to it every day.
Size: 40 x 50 cm
Full/Part Drill: Full Square Drill
Stars: 5 Stars
The kit arrived with no issues, after a careful inventory I found everything to be included. This was my first kit from PaintwithDiamonds.com so I didn’t know what to expect.
It was a big one so I needed to hurry up and get started so I could have it completed before Christmas.
This was a tough one because of the limited colors. And because he was a black cat it made it even harder. I was very nervous that you would just see a blob of black above the pumpkin, but it actually came out great. I also normally enjoy more colorful projects they keep me more interested. So this particular project probably took me longer than normal because of that.
It is a full square drill project and it shimmered and sparkled beautifully. With this kind of picture I needed a large canvas, so be sure you order the right size for your picture. Often with Diamond Painting if there are a lot of details you want a larger project. Just be sure you give yourself plenty of shipping time, nothing is fast with these Diamond Paintings unless you are ordering them from Amazon.
There are a lot of black drills so I had to be mentally prepared for that. This turned into one of my favorite projects probably because my kitty was coming to life as I moved through it. My mom was so delighted and surprised by the gift that it was all worth it. She still can’t get over that I made it and she gets so many compliments from the staff at her facility, she lights right up when someone wants to talk about it.
I didn’t mat this one like my previous ones. I framed it behind glass, not sure if I would do that again either. I like the natural shimmer so maybe next time I just take the glass out. I bought the frame from Michael’s because I waited to the last minute to buy the frame (my mistake), it’s better to be prepared.
